The Republic of Finland (Finnish: Suomen tasavalta Swedish: Republiken Finland) is one of the Nordic countries. It is situated in northern Europe, bounded by the Baltic Sea with the Gulf of Finland to the south and the Gulf of Bothnia to the west. Finland has land frontiers with Sweden in the west, Norway in the north and Russia in the east.

There are two official languages in Finland: Finnish, spoken by 92% of the population, and Swedish, mother tongue for 5.5% of the population.

According to the World Audit study, Finland is the least corrupted and most democratic country in the world.

In Finland they still bill by pulses. The pulse is always worth the same amount of money and the different caller rates are achieved by modifying the pulse frequency. A high call rate per minute also has a high pulse rate and vice versa. So the callers are charged by the pulses and because of that the actual cost of the call may vary a little depending on when the call was terminated: just after a pulse or just before. The more expensive the call is the smaller the difference is in percentage, because the pulses are so frequent. The pulses start immediately after the announcement and the first one comes directly after it.
