The Republic of Poland is located in
Central Europe and borders many countries including Germany, the Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, and Russia. Poland joined the European Union in 2004.
Poland inherited a very old telephone
system from the communist era, complete with manual exchanges in some
areas. But by the end of 2005, all
analog exchanges were shut down and all landlines are served by modern digital
and fully automated and computerized equipment from Siemens, Alcatel, and
Lucent. France Telecom owns most of the
telecom business in Poland since the privatization of the old TPSA state-run
system. Mobile lines are mostly GSM
based and UMTS networks are run in major cities like Warsaw, Lodz, Katowice,
Krakow, oznan, and Troimiasto.
Poland‘s telephone system is
technologically advanced enough to allow for the use of Premium Rates. Premium Rate Numbers are available in several
categories, providing value-added service for Poland with Pay-Per-Call or
Pay-Per-Minute lines in both entertainment and information formats. See our charts in the Payout tab for details
on all the service number tariffs we offer in Poland for both mobile and
landline sources.
